Lookit
A little Mac app that makes your screen recordings nice to look at.
What's it do? (great question)
- Records your screen — full display, a single window, or a region you drag. Mic, system audio, and webcam optional.
- Gives it some pop — gradient, solid, or image backgrounds with padding, rounded corners, and a drop shadow.
- Lets you change your mind about showing your face — webcam records as its own track, so you can reposition, resize, or hide it once you've seen the take.
- Calls out your clicks — clicks are captured during recording and render as ripples you can toggle per project.
- Packages it up nicely — non-destructive in and out points, then H.264 or HEVC at native, 1080p, or 720p.
Good to know
- Lives in the menu bar — no Dock icon. Global shortcut is ⌘⇧G by default, but you can change it to whatever in Settings.
- Nothing leaves your Mac — recordings are plain folders of
.movfiles and a JSON sidecar. No uploads, no account. - Updates itself — signed and notarized, with a signed update channel built in (expect lots of updates as I make this better).
